Our History in Brief

Our experience in bus/coach manufacturing industry dates back to 1981 when we first operated as a transport operator. We started as an operator of one of the largest privately owned fleet of school & private buses in Singapore. As an operator, we were well acquainted with the needs and requirements of bus ownership especially in areas of maintenance and repairs.

In 1992, the company identifies a niche and entered the coach design & body building activity producing a small range of high quality bus & coaches targeted mainly for the luxurious end of the market. Since then, we have refocused our core activity from Transportation service to Bus/coach design & manufacturing.

The Leader in Quality Coach Building

Today, we are recognized as a leading producer of high quality buses and coaches in Singapore and our products are used in Singapore and several overseas market including, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka & India. Export market contributes about 25% of our total yearly turnover. It should be noted that in Asia, our quality is second to Japan.

Being the last bus manufacturer to enter the industry in Singapore, we have emerged today, the largest bus/coach design & manufacturer in Singapore. We have gained our reputation for building sturdy buses using high quality European parts but selling them at competitive Asian prices. Our product is well received in the Singapore market that we have gained the largest market share today. We are also supplying our bus & coaches to the major transport operators in Singapore.

Our Corporate Structure

- Professional Management
SC AUTO is a professionally managed corporation which operation is currently based in Singapore.

Our functions include the Top Management planning the corporate strategy and direction of the company.

We have a strong engineering team in product design & development, engineering processes and continuous improvement.

- Production Control
Production Department is controlled via The Production Manager whom is assisted by various production supervisors in different work centers. Production dept can be broadly classified as Parts Manufacturing, Fabrication & Assembly works.

Our repair and servicing team takes care of after sales service, warranty and parts sales.

-Middle Level Management
Operation & Middle level Managers are responsible for implementation of corporate strategy and running the daily operations of the company. Our sales team is section into local sales and overseas export and market development.

Our Purchasing & Warehousing dept work together to bulk purchase overseas parts & materials at efficient prices for our production.

Our QC Engineers & Inspectors ensures In-process QC checks and outgoing inspections are passed according to our quality standards before delivery.

- Support Function
Our Accounts and Financing dept manages the company funds and profitability of the different dept.

Our IT administrator look after the corporate network system & implementation of new technology, upgrading of computerization system to enhance the company’s operation & Management system.

In total, the corporate employs a total of 80 staffs today. By end of the year 2000, the total employment will increase to 130 staffs with the implementation of the second production line.
